Doug Leko is coming to Abbi Mays Fabric Shop

Doug Leko, from Antler Quilt Designs and a designer for Moda fabrics is flying in and joining us in our "Quilty Playground"!

We will have him here for a "Meet 'N Greet, "Show 'N Tell", and "Book Signing". What could be better than having our very first world-renowned designer enter our fabric shop to play?

Doug Leko’s story is unique in the quilting industry. He founded Antler Quilt Design in 2008, when he was just fourteen. He’d been quilting since the age of six, and working in his mother’s quilt shop over the years helped him develop his skills and refine his art. Doug takes a distinctive approach to his quilt designs. He enjoys incorporating secondary design elements, and he’s absolutely passionate about color. For Doug, there’s nothing like pulling together just the right mix of coordinating fabrics for project. His work has been featured in prominent publications such as McCall’s Quilting, Quiltmaker, and in American Patchwork & Quilting.

Here are some of the things Doug will be bringing along to get signed! He has a brand new book out "Regency Blues", the popular "Stashtastic" (we have a quilt made from this book with kits available on Saturday as well), and his popular Simple Folded Corners Ruler.

We will close at our present location on Saturday, December 30th and will reopen at our new location on Saturday, January 6, 2018! This is going to be a great, fun "quilter's playground". We will be moving our longarm quilting machines there, too! Our new shop will be 4000 sq. feet with big, beautiful, open space.We will have a larger classroom and lots of fabric space!More fabric space means we will have ??? There's a gorgeous fireplace where you will be able to sit a spell with a cup of coffee/cocoa and have a cookie! We've got so many ideas and new things we are planning in the future for our quilter's playground! We are excited about all the possibilities and how we can better serve all our "quilty family". Summer 2017 will be alive with learning when kids hit the road to participate in Row by Row Experience’s brand new program, Row by Row Junior.  It’s designed for kids ages 6 to 14.  They travel along with an adult, collect free row patterns designed just for them to make, and learn to sew with family help and support from www.rowbyrowexperience.com.

This years row was challenging - On the Go!  We started thinking about this last fall and how to incorportate a road, hill and our fabric shop into the row.  As the months progressed, so did our row and we added a few other things to it.
