**If your machine does not have a ¼ inch seam allowance marking, or a presser foot edge that can serve as an accurate ¼ inch guide, you can make a seam guide from a piece of masking tape. To do this, place a ruler under the presser foot, with the needle on the ¼ inch line. Stick a piece of masking tape on the machine bed along the ruler edge. As you sew, guide your block edges along this masking tape edge, knowing that the machine needle will be ¼ inch from the tape guide.
