As Seen In McCalls Quilting March/April 2012: Along the Garden Path

pg 80 by Dorothy Ann Weld

Dimensional flowers add must-touch details to this lovely feminine quilt.

Prints and floral from the New London collection by Faye Burgos for Marcus Fabrics bring a tea-in-the-garden feel to this lovely, feminine quilt.

Dimensional flowers are easy to make using Dorothy Ann's fun technique.  She used Steam-A-Seam 2 to partially fuse them in place and then use detail quilting to secure them permanently while keeping their 3-D whimsy. You'll need to purchase 2 1/8 yards of Steam a Seam 2 to do this.

Finished size: 84 1/2" square

Careful attention to color placement is all that is needed to make the woven ribbon effect of this 106" square bed-size quilt. The piecing is deceptively easy with strip segments and diagonal corners. The soft florals are reminiscent of the well-loved fabrics of summer cottages.

The quilt kit includes 14 1/4 yards fabric from Cape Cod  for the top, borders & binding.

As Seen In American Patchwork & Quilting: STAR FORMATION

seen in October 2011, pg 44-51

Enhance an orderly design of eight-pointed stars in diagonal rows by surrounding the stars with blue sashing.

We loved Star Formation! Look what our quilter Sue made for us using the Star Formation pattern and the Bittersweet fabric collection from Benartex.

Sue loved this pattern, especially this pattern because the quilt is set on point. She said the directions were easy to follow, and there were pictures for us visual quilters.  She was a little nervous at first about how these colors would look together and thought she would be doing a lot re-arranging, moving blocks to get the scrappy look, but never moved a block after it was sewn!

Fabrics in the kit:

Finished Size:  74" x 88"
Skill level: Advanced Beginner
