Fabric Review: Farmhouse Blooms from Marcus Brothers

designed by Designed by Gloria Parson of Olde Green Cupboard Designs.
Farmhouse Blooms takes it's inspiration from "living on the farm" when Gloria was a kid in the 50's and 60's. Her mom grew the flowers she remembered that were growing in the yard. She added some fun colors to give it a fresh summer feel.

The computer generated pictures are not as pretty as the the actual prints.
Yardage is $9.67 yard available here: Farmhouse Blooms

Sneak Peek 2013 Quilt Fabric: Antoinette

Antoinette by Michele D'Amore from Benartex

Beautiful classic design, done Michele D’Amore style! The graceful rhythms and swirls of Jacobean designs have made them a favorite style that has endured for centuries. When you add trendy colors of chocolate and pink, and new design elements like pencil stripes, mod dots and tattersall plaid, the look is wonderfully fresh. Some other interesting “twists” to this collection:  a 3-print double border (perfect for curtains, pillowcases and more) and a two-print stripe (both diagonal and pencil stripe on one handsome fabric!)  Antoinette is perfect for wherever a touch of updated tradition is wanted.

Queen Anne Quilt Kit will include a free quilt pattern: Queen Anne
Finished size: 53" x 71"
Skill Level: Confident Beginner
Graceful rings are linked together in a beautiful classic design.
It’s a great use of Michele’s elegant Jacobean florals!

Kits will be available here: Queen Anne

Just Arrived: Caroline's Collection, Free Quilt Pattern

  Caroline's Collection
from Red Rooster by
Jennifer Chiaverini
Jennifer’s newest novel, The Wedding Quilt, inspired this soft and romantic fabric collection. Classic wedding flowers – roses and callalilies – are set against a creamy, white ground to create the exquisite focal print.

The thematic stripe combines wide bands of same flowers separated by narrow trellis-style stripes.

What wedding would be complete without a touch of lace!
There is a softly, flowing lace pattern in tonal shades of cream, muted sage and pink.

The Double Wedding Ring quilt is the quintessential wedding design! This fabric collection uses that pattern to create a striking, small scale print that combines rose and green rings against a snowy background. A sweet, tiny rosebud is centered within each ring.
What a lovely fabric to consider using not only for quilt borders and binding but also for wedding gift bags, cover of a wedding album or guest book, favor bags, tablecloth for shower or wedding luncheon, ring pillow or to make a basket for a flower girl to carry!
 Caroline's Collection includes 9 patterns/19 skus

Finished size: 64" square
Skill level:  Confident Beginner
Laura Blanchard designed a striking, 64" medallion-style quilt that perfectly complements this lovely fabric collection. Windblown Star blocks are used to create the straight-set center of the quilt. Large setting triangles enable the rest of the quilt to mimic a Trip Around the World design. Color placement of the small squares lends lots of visual motion and engages the eye.

Kit includes 7 1/2 yards fabric for top, borders and binding.

Quilt & Pattern Review: CARDINAL in the PINES

We finished our quilt  Cardinal in the Pines  from Wing and a Prayer Designs and we love it!

 Finished size: 67" x 78"

Fabric: is from Timeless Treasures Cardinal Season. We loved working the these rich colors and the fabric has a very nice hand to it.

Pattern: This was the 4th quilt we've made using their patterns and it was easy to read with lots of pictures. It includes easy instructions on how to fussy cut the center cardinal.

There was one big change we made and that was making two half squares at a time instead of using the grid included in the pattern.

Purchase your kits here for $99.95 + shipping Cardinal in the Pines (kit includes pattern and all fabrics for top, borders and binding)
It's off to the quilter now.  We are going to have it quilted edge to edge.
